Assistant Director Suicide Prevention Clinical Leadership Position$70-$80 an hour + superOpen to Psychologists, Social Workers, Mental Health Nurses and Occupational TherapistsACM Healthcare is working on behalf of a commonwealth government agency to source a Mental Health Professional for an Assistant Director Suicide Prevention Position. This role is located in Canberra ACT however other locations considered on application.The Assistant Director â Suicide Prevention will lead the ongoing implementation and embedding of the SafeSide Framework for Recovery-Oriented Suicide Prevention (SafeSide). They will be a leader in implementing suicide prevention initiatives and creating organisational practice change. They will manage a small team delivering an enhanced ability for the clinicians and mental health peers workers to support vulnerable and at risk clients, while also working collaboratively with international and domestic partners, and community stakeholders.Duties:Typical duties of the AD, Suicide Prevention will include:Provide high quality project and organisational change management to drive the ongoing implementation and embedding of a collaborative and nationally consistent best practice suicide prevention framework.Manage the translation of the suicide risk management framework into the practice setting, to realise applicability to the full suite of organisational services including counselling, care coordination, mental health peer support and group programs.Provide subject matter expertise, contributing to the development of advice, briefings, papers, submissions and correspondence for use in both internal and external decision-making forums.Manage a small team of clinical project staff responsible for coordinating the implementation and continuous improvement of suicide prevention activities.Support the development and design of multi-agency suicide prevention practices and the use of technologically supported suicide interventions.Contribute to the development and maintenance of clinical practice and governance policies, accreditation, research and national projects.Drive continuous quality improvement in suicide prevention.Develop and maintain effective working relationships with critical internal, external and international stakeholders.In conjunction with the National Director â Clinical Programs and Policy, manage strategic and business planning for future developments within national suicide prevention and clinical service delivery.Provide supervision, mentoring and coaching for direct reports to effectively manage performance and encourage professional growth.Support an environment that encourages a willingness to adopt participative work place practices in line with policies of WHS, Workplace Diversity and the Australian Public Service values, Employment Principles and the APS Code of Conduct.MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS or SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Qualifications must be that of a AHPRA Registered Psychologist, Occupational Therapist or Nurse with mental health experience OR Mental Health Accredited Social WorkerWorking with Children (WWC) and/or Vulnerable People Checks/Clearance held and maintained while employed.A high standard of written and oral communication is essential for this role.This role has many competing priorities. The successful applicant must be IT proficient and able to work flexibly across multiple issues with limited guidance.There is a high degree of stakeholder engagement in this role, requiring the successful applicant to have extensive stakeholder management experience and demonstrated communication skills to effectively manage these relationships.
